Dibis High Lift and Intermediate Booster Station

Dibis High Lift and Booster Station

LDA International completed the conceptual and final design, surveying and mapping, and engineering during construction of the Dibis High Lift and Intermediate Booster Station.

Dibis, a town located approximately 42 kilometers northwest of Kirkuk, now has a new pumping station that serves not only Dibis, but numerous residents of Kirkuk and the villages in between these two cities.

When the project started, only six out of 16 pumps were functional. These were old pumps, several were installed by the British back in 1955. Our engineers designed and assisted with construction in replacing these 16 outdated pumps with six new 800 horsepower vertical turbine pumps thereby combining the pumping facilities of three existing water treatment plants with a total capacity of 24 million gallons (imperial) per day.

We also constructed a new clear well, a new high-lift pumping station, a chlorination facility, and an intermediate pumping station. In addition to reducing the number of pumps at the Dibis station, the discharge pressure was lowered from 1100 PSI to 250 PSI. This will have a significant benefit by reducing the maintenance costs and electrical consumption.

As a result of these upgrades, the station became significantly more efficient and easier to operate, greatly improving the reliability in water supply to hundreds of thousands of people.
